Philippines -- here we come again!

In 1998 I led a team from Walla Walla College to Marbel, Philippines. The evangelistic meetings that I conducted resulted in 1225 baptisms, and a life-changing experience for all of us. They have invited us back. Yesterday Dr. John McVay, our president sent out the following statement and appeal in his President's Notebook.

Evangelistic Team Headed for the Philippines. In mid-August, a team of twenty WWC students, faculty, and friends will be headed to the Philippines to conduct a 15-day series of evangelistic meetings (Aug 18-Sept 1). Led by our Vice President for Spiritual Life, Dr. Pedrito Maynard-Reid, the team includes five of our theology students (Elliott Pevida, David and Brittney Sandvik, Emmauel Serrano, and Keith Rusk) and a student from Hong Kong Adventist College together with Drs. Dave Thomas and Zdravko Stefanovic from the School of Theology; Dr. Mahail Motzev from the Business Department and his wife, Rumiana Motzeva, who works for Gospel Outreach; and Dr. Dave Parks. Evangelist Maynard-Reid will be preaching at the central site in General Santos City while the students and other professors will be preaching at an additional ten sites surrounding the city. Remaining members of the team, led by Violet Maynard-Reid, will be leading out in Vacation Bible Schools and Community outreach, as well as assisting in the meetings at General Santos City. The theology professors will also be conducting a Field School each morning on Evangelism.

And now comes the offering appeal! The budget for this endeavor is $58,000, with significant contributions toward this amount from the participants (each of whom must raise $2,000), the Quiet Hour, NPUC, the Southern Mindanao Mission, and the WWC School of Theology. Still, we have about $10,000.00 yet to raise. If you would like to contribute to this worthy endeavor, you may do so by sending your tax deductible contribution to Walla Walla College, Spiritual Life Center, Attn. Philippines project.

God bless you, WWC team, as you head for the Philippines.
