
Today was the last fun (and overcoming jet-lag) day before the hard work begins. I thought the day would be a bummer, because it was raining quite heavily last night into this morning. But the day turned out marvelously. We first went to Khao Yai National Park, which is about 30 minutes from the University. Our first sighting was up and personal monkeys – many, many of them!
Then, though I warned the team members that there were lots of leeches on the path to the waterfalls, they took their chan

ces and were no match for those fast moving, quick “thinking” blood-sucker critters! Yet the team members weren’t complaining about the experience. There were just too many other wonderful things: like, being up and close to a large deer; being washed in the powerful mist of a great waterfall (and descending a mighty number of stairs to get there); and to top it all were the elephant rides.
