Nigerian Journal #7
Another day of lots of walking! I have done almost 15,000 pedometer steps. We finished up the measurements for the pipes. Hopefully I’m much fitter, and well tanned after doing those 6 miles in 100 degrees temperature. It was invigorating! The Community Council held an emergency meeting before we began the day’s work, and decided that there would be only one standpipe per village. They are concerned that Nigeria has a good name in Walla Walla. They must be, and appear to be, just and fair to all concerned.
When we arrived at the village a group of ladies brought gifts of a live rooster, plantains, oranges, papaya (pawpaw), and pineapple; and they made their celebration sound which I found out is called “Oro.” The day ended with dinner at Opara’s sister’s house.

Simply reading about your life exhausts me! In a good way--but it exhausts me :)
I like the photo, it reminds me of women in Burundi, where I grew up. Sounds like your Nigerian time is going well! Found you via Ginger's blog.
