London Journal #4

Today was my day off – at least during the day! Eglan Brooks arranged for his secretary, Sophia Prince, to take me into London for a little sightseeing and updating my photos. We took The Tube (Subway) at the big football stadium of Arsenal, and came off at Buckingham Palace. We did quite a bit of walking, past Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament. We ate lunch on the sidewalk of a lovely Italian Café. I felt like a tourist. And I got in my 10,000 pedometer steps. The last two days I was only able to get in 4,000 steps each day – and that is only because I do a lot of walking while I’m preaching or teaching! It rained a bit; but Sophia got me a lovely little British umbrella (or is it a parasol?); thus we were not slowed down at all.

Well, it is now 1:00am Thursday morning, and I wrote the above at 4:00 pm on Wednesday. Let me tell you about the rest of the evening. My former student, Pastor Simeon Esson picked me up to take me to his church at Battersea, way on the other side of town. It should have taken us a long time; but the traffic was light and we got there 1.5 hours early. So he gave me another tour of London -- this time from the south side, and over the London Bridge. Then I have a great time preaching on James 5 and the power of prayer. Eglan Brooks then took me home. But on the way there we went back into London to see the sights at night: Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, River Thames, Big Ben, etc. It was a great day, and I made nearly 16,000 steps!
