Thai ’08 Journal 10
We got word this morning that one of our nursing students, Mark, got the stomach bug. Fred and I went to see him and he was doing a little better, but we got him some more medicine and Sprite and he rested throughout the day. We hope by tomorrow he’ll be strong enough to come on the trip to the ancient city. Kari also got a little bug last night, but by tonight she was better and she’s also hoping to be strong enough for the trip tomorrow.
Paul preached today for church. He gave a good message on the Arms of God, portraying God as a great Father who loves us just because. Afterwards the church hosted a potluck for their visitors which included a small group from Malaysia. The food was wonderful. Everybody seemed happy, especially Lorraine who immediately spotted the spaghetti! There was a great mixture of American and Thai food and everything was delicious.
Afterwards, most of the students were taken on a tour of the campus. They were then taken to a nearby spa to spend the afternoon in the pool. Four of the students who’ll be working on the farm (along with the Dybdahl family, Fred, Kim, and myself), went to the farm site for a branch Sabbath School. They got to taste the dragon fruit, sweet sop, and tamarind –both green and ripe.
Tonight we went into town and ate at a cozy little “diner.” Great food! Fed 21 people for just over $30. Seriously! After returning to campus a number of students stopped by the house to make calls home and check e-mails.
Now it’s time to go to bed as tomorrow will be a very long day.
