Thai ’08 Journal 12

The work began today and it was a good day! The 5-member farm team left first at 8:00am with two Thai locals. Then the 8-member English Camp team left at 8:30 for the High School along with 3 Mission College students. Ken Rogers, Lorraine, Vie and I joined the 11-students and Fred Troutman nursing team (and Kim who will be doing dental work) at 9:00am for their first appointment with the Governor of this region. The nursing team then went to two elementary schools to do assessments. They were looking particularly for head lice, and taking care of those who were affected.

We then went on to the High School to see the English campers at work. What a fun time they were having! Next week I plan to spend a day with them. This morning they taught the students English via games. At noon the school fed then a fabulous lunch; and in the afternoon they did conversational English with the students.

We left Ken there and the three of us went on to the farm to spend the rest of the morning with the 5 guys there. However, when we got there, they were gone to another section of the farm to pick sweet-sop (this we found out after). After spending some time unsuccessfully trying to find them, we gave up and began to weed the chili-pepper field. Even though the day was overcast, it was still hot; and a hour of hoeing was hard work. But it was rewarding work.

Overall it was a great day and a blessed one for all involved. Starting tomorrow the team will meet in the evenings after supper for worship and debriefing. I trust that you are praying for us in these evangelistic endeavors.
