Thai ’09 Journal 7

What a team! With only a little sleep, they were ready to get a-going this morning. Church Service started at 9:00am followed by Sabbath School which ended at noon. Humberto Rasi preached a good sermon. He is here for the Faith and Learning Seminar. John Fowler and Lisa Beardsley are here as well for that event.

After lunch we went to Uncle Presan’s farm to attend the weekly Branch Sabbath School at his house. I was asked to preach an impromptu sermon. We then toured the farm and had fruits which most of the team members have never tasted. There has been lots of rain since March, so there is no corn to reap. And the few sweet sop (custard apple) that bore are not too good for the market. So this year we will be spending most of the time weeding and clearing the land.

We then went and climbed the 600+ steps to the White Buddha. That was steep and tough going, especially as we got near to the top. But it was worth it. I’m sure you will want to see the photos of this unique “attraction” (click here to see them). We spent a bit too long there, so that when we returned to campus the cafeteria was closed. So we went across the road to a hang-out of the team last year. We paid less than $25.00 for dinner for all 12 of us! Tonight we went to the Muak Lek night market. Tomorrow we leave at 6:30am for an outing to a wildlife sanctuary.
