Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip 2012 - Journal 9

The highlight of the day was the optional dinner at a most famous chain of restaurant and resorts here in Thailand – Cabbages and Condoms. If you are in Thailand, you must eat there. The one we went to is just a few miles from the university. The restaurant and resorts are run by the Population and Community Development Association, whose aim is to serve Thailand’s rural poor through emphasis on reduction in the fertility rate, better agricultural and other economic opportunities, etc. We had a blast, with Jose and Abby stealing the show! It was Abby’s birthday, and we continued the celebration at a little ice cream place in Muak Lek.

We did a little swapping this morning, with some of the team teaching at the English Camp, and one switching to the farm. We weeded a huge corn field, and the builders began putting up the beams for the shed. Tomorrow we visit an orphanage, and head to the Tiger Temple. Big weekend coming up!
