Thailand Journal 2– Aug. 24, 2019

The
first Sabbath is always chock full of activities – a strategy to heal jet-lag
in a day! We went to church in the morning; then joined a host of students,
faculty and staff in the afternoon for Branch Sabbath Schools. We of course
went to the farm. It’s always an emotional moment when Auntie Nang and Uncle
Prasarn and I reunite. We gave them the dog food and chicken feed that Lorraine
and Kaylene sends each year for the dogs and chickens. I preached my little
sermonette, as is the tradition; and then we toured the farm. The climb to the
White Buddha lived up to expectation. And dinner at the Blue restaurant ended
the day on a grand note. And, just a note or anecdote of interest: As we were
leaving the grounds of the monastery, a monk asked if he could take a photo
with us. He asked the ladies to stoop down, and then he asked Noah if he was a
male. He then allowed him to stand next to him. Again, as noted yesterday, this
is also a “cultural” trip…. They are learning a lot!
