Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip 2013 - Journal 4

I’m writing this on the way to the airport at 9:00pm. The University is 2 hours north of the International airport. Thus far the journey of the team has been uneventful (I saw their Facebook posts when they arrived in Japan). Here are the team members this year:

It is going to be an awesome group. Kalene will be my “right hand,” (taking Spring’s place from last year), since she was with us on the trip last year, and is simply super! I’m also happy that Fred is with us again this year. He was with the 2008 team when we had a good contingent of students from the

School of Nursing. The faculty of the Nursing School here has extended the invitation, every year, for him to return. So he will be spending most of his time doing Community Nursing. I’m also glad to have Lana (who is retired from the School of Social Work) and her friend of many years, Christine. But my excitement is at its peak to have the students – we are the same age (at least I feel that way, and hopefully act like that when it serves a positive purpose!), and have the same zest and energy! I’m like a kid the night before a big adventure – I can’t wait for morning to come!

Today, I spent the time making sure that everything is in place – housing, communication (phones and sim cards), finalizing arrangements for the English Camp, and courtesy call to the University president. But I spent a bit of time walking around the campus and taking pictures to post on the website. Hope you will take time to look at them. It is a fabulous campus.
