Thailand Journal 19 – Sept. 12
With just the six of us left (see yesterday’s journal), we
decided to turn things a bit upside-down, and began the day with coconut
ice-cream; and intended to end it with the famous roadside pancakes. Neither of
the pancake ladies were at their stations! But Uncle Prasarn and Auntie Nang
and her sisters were at home. Richard was kind enough to come and translate for
us. Spring, she especially appreciated the chicken feed, because they have so
many chickens. Of course they always appreciate the dog food, Kalene and
Lorraine. There were hardly any tears today. Those were shed on Friday. Today
was quite upbeat with lots of expressions of gratitude and love. They were
delighted to hear that many members of the team have made the decision already
to return next year. We took time to run around and say more goodbyes to the
massage ladies, the hardware store family, the pharmacist, the telephone
couple, etc. We also made a quick trip to the Monday night market to see if we
found some of the students from the elementary school who tend to wander
through these evening markets. This team is so awesome. They break the
stereotype of mission-trippers! We are now on the way to the airport to fly out
on Tuesday morning.
