Thai Journal ‘25 - #13
The kids at Bamboo School do all the cooking, and they wake up at about 3:30am to begin breakfast preparation for the 5:00am worship and meal. Although some of my team joined them for the early meal, the rest of us were up by 7:00am for worship and breaking the fast. Martha blessed our souls with a devotional from 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. Powerful and appropriate. We then went on a tour of the clinic run by the school. Our Thailand Mission Trip Project, sponsors a nurse there. Special thanks to Julie. Then we went on a tour of the lakeside campus.
On the way back we purchased bags of rice and visited a refugee camp. Like last year, they were so appreciative; but this year, Doug did something new: He took polaroid photos of them. They were ecstatic! We must make this an integral part of the trip from now on. After lunch we divided into two groups. On group went to finish the Walla Walla tree at the lakeside campus “church.” However, the hardware store was closed, and they could not obtain the supplies. So, they joined the rest of us as we joined the nurse and a physical therapist in making community nursing rounds. We visited a couple patients with strokes, some older patients, and three former Myanmar
soldiers who lost a leg or were injured by landmines.Incidentally, we were the first group to have the privilege of dining under the Baby John Memorial canopy. As on every Friday evening, there is the “hand-washing” (instead of foot-washing) communion service. All bad relationships are washed away! And, oh my word! What heartfelt singing by those kids… and, in three languages! Memorable!
