Thai Journal ‘25 - #17

I’m home in Walla Walla after just under three weeks on our Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip. What a

blessing! We gave so much but we received even more.

One of our team members, Sarahi Leichner, shared with us her powerful reflections, and gave me permission to share it here:

Thailand

I arrived not knowing what to expect, a new country, a new culture, a mission trip that felt exciting and uncertain at the same time.

Thailand met

me with many things I didn't realize I was looking for.

Everywhere I turned, people smiled.

The streets were filled with life, laughter, and vibrant colors.

Everything moved with purpose, but no one was ever too busy to be kind.

We served. we learned. we listened.

And in return, I was  invited into something I had never experienced before .

community, simplicity, and joy that didn't depend on having everything, but on being together.

At the orphanage, something inside me broke open.

Little hands reached for mine without hesitation.

Eyes full of light, and laughter

even though their lives had known mostly darkness.

In just a few days, those kids became part of me.

We sang, we played, we danced.

They trusted easily, loved fully,

and showed me how much can be said without many words at all

I thought I was going there to give,

But I left with more than I can explain.

Thailand,

I now leave with smiles, memories, and people I'll never forget,

And with a version of myself that's more humble, more grateful, and more alive.

 I'll carry it with me.

always.
