Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip 2014 - Journal 3
Last night I got my best sleep in days (a little over 6
hours). But it meant missing Sabbath School. Every other Sabbath the
International church (English) meets in the main church building, and the Thai
church meets in the Auditorium; and the alternate Sabbaths they meet together
with translations. For lunch there was a potluck. Then doning our orange shirts
we joined the Branch Sabbath School meeting at the Farm where we will be
working. Uncle Prasarn and Aunt Nang were so happy and surprised to see us.
They did not know that we were coming early this year. The dogs were also happy
to see us. They will get their huge bag of dog food on Monday, courtesy of
Lorraine Jacobs
and Kalene Harlen. Great singing by the Thai students from AIU;
and I did my regular thing, preaching on the Feeding of the 5000. Incidentally,
electrical poles are all the way to the house now. They are just waiting on the
electrical company to put up the wires. But our solar panels are still doing well.
After the meeting we toured the farm. There was a fire and they lost all their
custard apple (sweet sop) trees. There has been quite a drought; so the corn has
been stunted. So it has been a bad year all around for them.
Climbing the White Buddha is always a memorable experience.
And this time the monks introduced us to the back part of the compound where we
could feed the fish. We then continued the tradition of ending the day at the
Blue Restaurant. Of course, since we had some time, some went to the Saturday
Night Market on the Main Street in Muak Lek.
