Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip 2013 - Journal 20
This is one of the most important Sabbaths of the year for
me. It is the day that we are truly like
Jesus. Everyone who knows me, know
that I love church, especially one that has wholistic and vibrant worship.
However, nowhere in Scripture do I find Jesus enjoying a vibrant Sabbath
worship. As a matter of fact, almost in all the Sabbath stories of Jesus in the
synagogue or temple, he is in conflict with the officials. On the other hand,
his activities on Sabbath were almost always social and wholistic in nature.
Today, that was what we did. Annually, we join the Administration and staff
(medical and dental) of Mission Hospital in Bangkok, along with the University’s
Nursing faculty and students, in a full day of mission outreach in a poor
village near the campus. The owner of the Ramkhamhaeng Advent International School in Bangkok also gives out mosquito nets, ladies wrap, blankets, kids school supplies, shirts, etc., and a 20 Baht bill to everybody. We always assist in handing the gifts out. Again, we were overjoyed in being able to assist in making life a little better for these rural Thai people.
On the way back we stopped at the Chet Sao Noi
Waterfalls,
which is only a few kilometers from the University, and near the school where
the 2011 Team conducted an English Camp.
The final Saturday evening tradition at the President’s
house continued. A great worship of reflections on this year’s trip; great
pizza; and rousing table games! Tomorrow on to Bangkok!
