Thailand Mission and Cultural Trip 2013 - Journal 16

Today
Kaci and Zoe got to spend the day with the Fred and the Nursing Faculty and
students at a school about 20 minutes away. One of the main things they
participated in was treating the kids for lice infection. On Saturday the
entire team will join the nurses in an all-day Community outreach in the same
village.
Because
they were with the nurses, we were one short at the High School. So we loaned
them Jeremiah. It was fun; but his preference is the farm. With him gone, it
was only Kalene, Claire and me on the farm; and I had to leave for an hour to
go and take photo of the “lice hunt!” But we still got through a bit.
This
afternoon found me running up and down doing busy work, meeting with relevant
person in Academic Affairs, Purchasing, Plant Service, etc. Part of my
discussions involved planning for next year. The school year is changing, and
next year will be a transition year. At this point our tentative plan is to
come towards the end of June and return home on July 1.
| Solar panel |
The
solar panels came. I went out to Prasarn and Nang’s home to tell them the good
news. They were very happy and grateful. The folks from the University’s Plant
Service also came to make decisions as to where and how to install the panels
and place the storage battery and outlet accessory. They will be there in the
morning to complete the work.
I
was hoping we could get them a refrigerator. But the unit is too small to store
electricity around the clock. But Prasarn wants a radio, and Nang wishes a TV.
So we will get those for them and some other electrical equipment like lights,
extension cords and maybe an electric fan. It gets very hot in the summer. We
are all excited that we are able to do this this year.
