Thai Journal ‘26 - #3

 

As in times past, today was the final day of the de-jetlagging activities. First a trip to Khao Yai National Park – a huge rainforest less than an hour from the university. Lots of hiking through the woods and visits to waterfalls. This year, the path down to the big Haew Suwat waterfall was opened. It was beautiful. Quite a bit of wildlife was seen: monkeys, deer, but no leeches (so no blood was drawn for the first time) etc.  Still no elephants. But our annual visit to the Jungle House for elephant rides was enjoyable. Incidentally, we met about 50 Adventist from Winsdor Home School camping! Ah, the mango eating master class! We always

demonstrate the fact that mangoes must not be eaten with knives and forks! This is an important cultural dimension of the trip. And this year we found lots of mangoes, and I  gave my annual demonstration. For many, the visit to the Chocolate Factory is one of the highlights of the trip. They weren’t disappointed. We then went shopping at Lotus and dinner at The Pizza Company and ice cream at Swensen’s.
