Thailand Journal 16 – Sept. 9

We slept in comfortable cabins in Khao Yai National Park, and got up at 6:30 for the adventure of finding more wildlife. However, the fog was thick and the animals were scarce – though we saw lots of evidence that elephants were roaming last night. We drove to the largest waterfall in the park (Haew Narok Waterfall). The climb down was at times steeper than that for the White Buddha. We rushed back to catch the closing song for church. My “daughter,” Supaporn, who I baptized in Chiang Mai in 2005, came up from Bangkok to see me. We were so happy to see each other. Please pray for
her nephew who is being treated for leukemia. In the afternoon, we
paid for the bus to take us and some AIU students (including some special friends the team made) to the orphanage. Not as much physical playing with the little girls as in times past; however, they had fun doing more crafts. The big shock was that as we were boarding the bus, the kids just went back to their lodging without hanging on to us. We ended the day with our annual pizza party at the home of the VP for Advancement, Ryan Keough, and his wife, Wendy. Great hosts. For those who are just seeing these journals for the first time, you can go to this site to see the many photos of the trip: https://www.flickr.com/photos/143715478@N06/albums/72157685560631054.
