The work week began with Gaby leading the team with a

devotional. Nuny, the English coordinator for the elementary school introduce
the entire team, even those of us working on the farm. The school even provides
lunch for the farm team. And during lunch time the kids get to interact with
the “farmers.” Normally when we have guys on our team, they join the boys for
their soccer games. I was so happily surprised to arrive and see Inez have a
blast on the team as the only girl. A highlight of the English Camp team was
having the kids teach them Thai. Our mission trip is a 2-way street! Excitement
on the farm: The van could not make it to the house. The wheels kept spinning
in the mud. We parked and walked a little distance to the house.

The field of
corn we are weeding was also a further distance away. I drove the pickup. Scott
Holste, you will be happy to know that even though it is a newer vehicle, there
is no power steering – just as bad as the one we drove in 2009. I got a
workout! This afternoon was time for massage. Rose and Jenny are so awesome.
Thank you both. While some were being massaged, the other of us were shopping
and touring the city. Those of you who have been following my journals in the
past years, know of the friendships we have developed with business persons and
establishments in Muak Lek – the grocer, the pharmacist, the telephone and
internet provider, and especially the hardware

store manager/owner, Sumuchayar
Rara. We were looking to
purchase school supplies, and Sumuchayar, told us that
her sister owns the stationary store next door. We made another friend! Just now
as I’m writing, I got a lovely surprise visit from my friends on the nursing
faculty. The most delightful people! Looking forward to working with them on
Sabbath at the Community Health Day event.
