Sarai continued the tradition of good morning devotionals to
start the day and the week on the right foot. This morning, Prof. Deanna,
Mackenzie, Olivia, Salina, and Alicia joined the AIU School of Nursing seniors
on a field trip in a nearby village, for their Community Nursing class. Earlier
in the class, the students identified dengue fever as a problem in that area.
Today they went from house to house, not only doing the regular medical
check-ups, but educating each home on how to prevent the illness. They also
gave out packets of anti-mosquito sand to put in all standing water.

Deanna reports
that it was a tremendous learning experience for the team. At the elementary
school we were down to only 4 teachers. As always, they had a lot of fun with
the students, and they are witnessing good improvement in their language
skills. At the farm, we were down to only Noah and myself. It rained just about
the entire morning. But that did not deter us weeding the section assigned to
us. It was an amazing feat in that muddy and soggy ground, with lots of Bermuda
type grass dominating the weeds. It was tough work, and I easily made 11,000
fitbit steps in the little over the two hours we worked. Besides the regular
coconut water, Nang fed us a new pumpkin delicacy.
As the day was coming to an end, there was the
urge by many of the members of the team for some American food. So on to Tesco Lotus
we went for KFC and pizza. We partied in my room like ravenous hungry beasts!
