Thailand Journal 4– Aug. 29, 2022
After a weekend of fun and de-jetlagging, we are fit and ready to do some physical and academic work.
As always, we begin the day with a team group devotional. Zach kicked it off with some inspiring thoughts. Then we all went to the Elementary school where we were to receive the official welcome. But again, this year, as in 2019, it was raining. They postponed it until tomorrow. Zach, Willy (Glen), Jan (Janelle), Rachel (Risallyna), Elle (Elizabeth), Jenny, Gabby (Gabriela) and Prof. Deanna, separated into
two teams to run the English camp. They reported that it was a lot of fun and the kids fell in love with them. Brett, Miranda, Holly, Keziah and I formed the farm team. Today we weeded a chilly pepper field, and began transplanting some new ones. It was muddy; but nothing like 2011! It felt like old times; because Aunt Nang spent the whole time with us in the field. She surprised us with the strength she demonstrated in handling the hoe. She put me to shame! Lorraine and
Kalene would be happy to see the new healthy-looking dogs they have now. This was the first time that I noticed jimbilin growing on the farm, and outside of the Caribbean. What a delight to see Rose and Jenny, and to get massages again. I’ll get mine tomorrow; but the 8 who got today were raving praises! We have two team members with Indonesian roots. They were happy to meet up with the Indonesian club. We ended the day with a brief visit to the Monday night market.
Again, if you missed the first set of journals, here is the link for the daily blogs: http://blessingsfrompedrito.blogspot.com/
