Asia Journal 3
Today was historic for me: I met Dr. I-to Loh, the foremost, and most influential Asian ethnomusicologist in the world. I was honored, and learned a lot. My teaching on Asian worship will not be the same.
For the first time I rode on a highspeed train. It was like you were in a plane. We rode from the capital,
Taipei (in the north) to Tainan in the south) to meet with Dr. Loh. And then on another, on to Ping-ton. From there we drove by taxi high into the mountains to the Wu-tai indigenous township. More on that tomorrow. Incidentally, Taiwan is four times the size of Jamaica with 10 times its population.
