Asia Journal 1
In Asia for the first of a number of trips to do research worship. I'll be doing research in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. For those who are acquainted with my book on worship, you would know my contention that true worship should be wholistic, and not just a cerebral experience. Looking at those 3 cultures I demonstrate that conclusion by especially investigating cultures whose roots are in the global south, and indigenous (like the Bible, which in reality comes out of north Africa). I have a strong inkling that this would be true in Asia. Thus, this research pilgrimage. I'm in this for the long haul. Asia is humongous! Next year I would like to visit Korea, mainland China, and Malaysia, and possibly Papau New Guinea. Next stop would be South Asia, including India and Sri Lanka. The methodology would be the same as the research for "Diverse Worship" -- in situ indigenous Christian worship services and interviews.
