Thai Journal ‘24 - #16
The experience with the Refugee Camp and the unique communion service to begin the Sabbath always seem to be the most moving moments of our time here at Bamboo School. Momo Cat received a huge amount of clothes recently. This morning, we spent hours sorting them out to take to some refugee camps on the border of Myanmar and Thailand, which we did in the afternoon. We also purchased about 150 packets of seeds to add to the clothes packages. The joy on the faces of those poor and persecuted families was priceless. We also gave each family a sack of rice. Our nurses (led by Deanna) did some work on an injured man and visited a very sick refuge who was getting the run-around at the hospital. They will take in back tomorrow and Momo Cat
will use her clout. Flat Wally (WWU) mascot was with me the whole time. We visited the clinic run by Bamboo and saw them at work. One of our team members from last year donates monthly to pay the nurse physician to keep it running. Part of the team stayed at the Lakeside campus to finish building the Walla Walla tree (made of concrete and ecobricks – a creation of Momo Cat, from garbage and plastic bottles). As on every Friday evening, there is the “hand-washing” (instead of foot-washing) communion service. All bad relationships are washed away!
