Thai Journal ‘26- #4

 

The day began with a scripture-grounded worship talk for the team by Keziah. Then off to the Public Elementary School where we were all introduced to all the students and faculty during the Assembly that began their day. The 6 team members who stayed were divided into 3 groups. The students loved them, and it was reciprocal. Thanks to Doug who took many photos to tell the story of the day. Check out my Flickr album to see some great shots; or check out his album to see even more. The other 5 of us headed to the farm. Our first task was to purchase fertilizer for the corn. However, we have to wait for more rain to fall before applying it. While waiting we began the weeding of a chili pepper field. The coconut water and sweetsop (called custard apple over here) gave us extra strength! It was good to have Auntie Nang in the field with us, as well as the dogs (who are looking forward to enjoying the large bags of food that Kalene and Lorraine sent for them). In the afternoon 6 of the team got massages at Jenny and Rose’s parlor. So, so

good! For dinner we returned to the new place we found last year, Mar Der La. Great food and drinks. The day ended with the annual durian-tasting event. No one was overwhelmed by it. It was the mildest durian most of the old-timers had tasted. I loved it, and the sweetsop fruit that topped it off. Thanks again to the AIU’s Dr. Pornpan and the Nursing Faculty who went to the market at 5:00am this morning to get us the freshest durian!
