Today we did not get as much done as we would have liked.
But it started off well with a devotion by Lisa. When we arrived at the school
we found out that all the 3
rd through 9
th grader were at
a major tree-planting event a few kilometers up the road. It was mostly
ceremony; so very little interaction with the kids. It was also part of the end
of a major cycling event. We were rerouted through the city, which added to our
trip to the farm. Not much weeding got done today. But I took some photos to
show Vie that the way I nearly cut off my finger, 40 years ago, was not with
the coconut in my hand, but with it on the ground and my thumb nearby the area
of slice! Ha! Back to the events of this day: The team decided

to recuperate
from the weekend by hanging loose in their room and having a “snack party.”
Thus the shopping at the 7-Eleven. I spent much of my down time catching up
with University work and listening to Aretha’s and McCain’s memorials. Some powerful
speeches and music. I also walked a bit around the AIU campus. It is one of the
most beautiful in the SDA system. It was good to chat with Michael Cafferky,
who is visiting here for a couple days. Ended the day eating a durian cake,
compliments of the nursing faculty. You can catch up with all the photos here:
